Responsible Sourcing, Responsible Consumption And Production

For responsible sourcing, traceability & production of feed ingredients

We aim at eliminating IUU, protecting the ecological systems, and preserving marine species. To preserve the marine species for future purpose, responsible sourcing is the Key element. All raw material is sourced from legal, reported and regulated fishing activity

It is in everyone’s interest that the fish stocks should be sustainable and thus ensure that the fishing industry remains a basic pillar of society. So, Omega Fishmeal And Oil Private Limited in co-ordination with stakeholders in fish supply chain (Like Fishermen societies, Fish processing Industries, Government fisheries departments & Scientist, etc.) started the “Fishery Improvement Project” (FIP) for Indian oil sardine along the coastal waters of Maharashtra, & Goa  in 2017 . The project’s main focus is to improve fisheries management and governance together with environmental responsibility and transparent traceability of fishery products throughout the supply chain.

This is the first FIP in India that applies to the latest version of The MarinTrust Improver program that was developed by Marintrust Governing Body

which is an internationally accepted standard designed specifically for marine ingredient producers sourcing from responsible fisheries according to UN FAO requirements. This FIP will ensure the effective management of Indian Oil sardine & Indian Mackerel resources for the development of fisheries for maximum sustainability.

We are supporting the growth of a responsible fish industry through our commitment to produce top-quality feed ingredient, sustainably. We use fish which is low-food-value and a low-market demand for direct human consumption. We pay attention to where, how and from whom we source our materials.

We have studied the biological stocks of Indian Oil sardine & Indian Mackerel with help of Scientists, same has been submitted to regulating bodies. Fisheries departments are working towards the management plan to use this stock sustainably.

To understand potential impact of fishing on the wider marine ecosystem, we are developing an ECOPATH model with help of scientist

Our FIP is accepted by MarineTrust under MarineTrust Improver Program.

Our Factory is also accepted by MarinTrust under MarinTrust IP accepted Site.

Minimising carbon footprint

Our focus is to use the advance technology to reduce environmental impact. 

ETP installed at our factory is designed by Remondis Aqua ( German Company), which is Zero Liquid Discharge plant. All effluent generated during processing is effectively treated to quality of reuse. The water consumption of plant is very negligible.

The Boiler installed at our factory can use multiple fuel gives us advantage to use biofuel i.e. Briquettes. We use briquettes prepared from agricultural waste as fuel in boiler. So the ash generated is bio-degradable & can be used by fertilizer industries. The boiler is installed with mechanical dust collector & bag filter to reduce air emission. The economizer is installed on the boiler to efficiently use fuel.
